About Us
Not-A-Robot is a social resistance movement, resisting inhumanity through in-person community connections.
We hope to promote a more equitable society and to strengthen social resilience through mutual understanding, tolerance and compassion.
This is an idea that has stemmed from a small group of us that has met regularly in a park for some time to discuss a broad range of topics.
There are a range of personalities in our group. We don't always agree but we have seen the value of coming together and meeting face to face and the support and the friendship that has developed over the years. This is in contrast to the connections we make through social media that in comparison often seem superficial and fragile. How did we communicate before social media? How did we know what was going on? (some suggestions here)
Are we losing those connections with our community and our neighbours and replacing them with several hundred on-line 'friends', a pursuit of 'likes' and and quick on-line jabs at each other? It feels like we're becoming less tolerant of others and more self absorbed.
By seeking out and creating opportunities for face-to-face meetups in our community, 'Not a Robot' hopes to encourage people to slow down and to take the time to reconnect and get to know each other properly.
