Timebank meetup at the Waa!

Expired

A great start to the Whakatū Timebank (a working title) with a meetup at the Waa! on Sunday of people interested in getting it off the ground.

We have a timebank set up, if anybody is interested in trying it out feel free to join (click on the Timebank menu option above and then on the 'login' page just click on the join button). This is a bit of an experiment at this stage using the same platform as the Wellington timebank (this may change).

Note we do not have any vetting/interview of members in place at the moment so bare that in mind and use at your own risk. Perhaps only engage in requests for help with people you know/trust (we would expect people wanting to get involved would be nice people though 😊 ).

If you want to know more about timebanks, and why we're keen to get one running, there is a neat video from one in Long Beach here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yEfIgxViDc&t=196s and a TEDx talk of the Lyttelton timebank post earthquake here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQxryNvZnbI.

April Pot Luck

Expired

Despite the shorter and colder days, with a touch of light, some lovely food and great company, it was quite a magical evening at our potluck last month.

The aim of the potluck has been to bring our local community together and reactivate public spaces and this month we have the opportunity do do something a little bit different and build on the idea of a potluck at night; In collaboration with Community Art Works we're taking the potluck to Pioneer Park and incorporating games, light and story telling centered around the history of the park.

This will be starting at the slightly earlier time of 5pm.

At least, that's the plan. The weather is not looking ideal this week so we'll keep an eye on the forecast and make a decision on Tuesday whether to postpone.

March Pot Luck

Expired

We were again very lucky with the weather, another stunning evening with great people, food and conversation. What more do you need?

The Inaugural Pot Luck in the Park

Expired

What a perfect evening our inaugural 'Potluck in the Park' was! Thanks to everybody that came along.

Our next one is Friday March 28th - Same place, same time (Queens Gardens at 5:30pm) and we hope you'll be able to join us.

If you can, please bring along some food to share - this doesn't have to be much and it can be very simple (bring along some fruit for example if you don't have the time to make anything). If it's a barrier to coming along, just come along anyway (your presence is the important element and there will be more than enough food). Please also bring along a plate and cutlery and perhaps a chair if you want to be able to sit down.

The only agenda is to strengthen our community connections so please share with your friends and family and see if you can bring one or two along next week.

We will be adding more information to the website in the near future. If you have any suggestions for content (other groups or events that should be listed for example) please let us know. Please also check the website for any updates regarding the Pot Luck.
